Preparing For Rhinoplasty

without comments

© MAXFX @ www.photoexpress.com

Preparing for rhinoplasty surgery is an important step in you being happy with the final results. You need to be aware of the risks that are involved and what you can do to make this type of surgical procedure a satisfying and successful experience. Check out this rhinoplasty information for helping you to do so.

You should consider the look you want for your nose. Take the time to look through magazines and have a close look at other noses. Choose those noses you would like yours to resemble. Taking these pictures along with you to the first consultation you have with your surgeon can help to give him or her ideas of what you want.

You should have realistic expectations about the nose you will have after surgery. You are different from every person and this is a fact your doctor will take into consideration. You may simply have a weak chin that is causing your nose to appear too large. You might also have less skin to work with than another person. Your final results can be best described by your surgeon.

Alert your surgeon about allergies you might have or any trouble you may have with conditions like sinusitis. These are some conditions that affect the outcome of your procedure. You should also talk about the history in your family of heart, liver, or lung disease. These are conditions that can cause you to have complications with anesthesia. Making sure you are healthy enough for any surgical procedure is vital.

Before your surgery, your doctor will likely give you a list of medications to avoid. Making sure you follow these instructions closely is important to how well you do during the procedure. Some medications, even those that are obtained over the counter, can thin your blood. Anti-inflammatory drugs and aspirin are a couple you will certainly want to avoid. Talk to your doctor about all medications you might be taking during your first consultation as well.

Smokers should stop at least two weeks before surgery. Smoking greatly decreases wound healing and it affects the sinuses. Do not drink alcohol as well for the same reasons you should not take medications. Prepare your home for your recovery by planning ahead. Ask your doctor about those things you will need to have on hand at home for making the best and fastest recovery.

If you are adequately prepared and do your research properly there is a much better chance that you will be happy with the result.  Rhinoplasty cost is not cheap but the cost may be even higher if you are dissatisfied with the result or if something goes wrong.  By preparing well you minimize risks and maximize positive outcomes.

Nose Jobs and Men

without comments

When it comes to plastic surgery, women are often thought of as the main market. There are many procedures that cater to many women’s needs, like liposuction for excess fat, facelift to shave off a few years from the face, and so on. Before, men wouldn’t even consider getting these procedures done, even when they truly need them. But now that plastic surgery has become a very widely accepted surgery for men certain procedures like male rhinoplasty surgery have been developed.

Rhinoplasty For Males: An Overview

Because the nose is very visible on the face, any deformity, injury, or asymmetry will affect the person’s appearance to a big degree. This is why rhinoplasty was invented. However, before, only females got the procedure done. It took many years for the procedure to truly catch on to males, who until then would only get rhinoplasty done for more practical reasons, such as to fix an injury, or to treat a health problem.

Today, rhinoplasty for males is a true category of cosmetic plastic surgery, whose clientèle continues to grow as the years pass.

Rhinoplasty for males is not really that much different than traditional rhinoplasty. There are no special tools used, no gender specific medicines that are given. What’s different, however, is that rhinoplasty for males’ styles cater mostly to men, that is, the aesthetic choices, or suggestions, are designed with the male appearance in mind.

For example, a woman who has a large nose may find that nose unappealing, and therefore conclude that it needs to be reduced in general. However, a man with a large nose may not need reduction, only reshaping, and the surgeon who’s versed in rhinoplasty for males will know this, and make the right suggestion.

Risks and Recovery

There are a number of possible risks in rhinoplasty for males, including bruising, swelling, bleeding, and minor pain. Should these stay for longer than the intended projected period, the patient should go back to the surgeon in order to assess whether a revision rhinoplasty has to be done. Recovery can take at least 2-3 weeks minimum, up to 2 months.

Costs

There is not one price for rhinoplasty for males. The prices will vary depending on the state where the surgeon or clinic is, the current state of the market. On average, however, rhinoplasty cost for men ranges between $3,000 to $8,000. It is important to remember that price does not always equal quality, and that there are good surgeons, based in more modest towns, that have their services available at a lower cost than that of someone working in more chic cities.

About the Home Chemical Peel

without comments

Want to look years younger?

Many people wish they could turn back the hands of time and go back to the days when they had a younger more youthful glow to their skin. Unfortunately this often means harsh chemicals and dermatologist appointments for a chemical peel facial or some other form of youthful skin restoration. However, there is a simpler solution that you can do, an at home chemical peel, will reveal a youthful healthy glow to your skin.

What is a chemical peel anyways?

A chemical peel is what is done typically in a dermatologist office which is applied to the skin. An at home chemical peel can be done in the comfort of your own home without the expensive or hassle of a doctors appointment. They are not as harsh as regular chemical peels but still reveal a beautiful glow to the skin.

Things to consider before:

How sensitive is your skin – This is an important topic as you do not want to damage your skin. Read the label and test a small area to ensure it works the way you hope it will.

Things to consider after:

* How active do you plan to be right after – It is best to not go outside right after your at home chemical peel as your skin will be much more sensitive to light making it possible to damage your skin.
* Make sure you wear sunscreen – to prevent any sun damage
* Avoid other products containing chemicals on your skin – such as lotions, makeup, etc to make sure there is not an interaction or your skin becomes irritated

As always with any products you should read and understand the instructions before application. Remember, the at home chemical peel is a potent product that should be used with the utmost care.

What Is A Tummy Tuck And What Can it Give You?

without comments

Right now, there are numerous options for Americans who want to lose weight fast. Most of these procedures are cosmetic surgeries that aim to reduce a persons weight. Even when most nutritionists and health experts prefer the traditional methods of losing weight, still, the benefits of these weight loss methods cannot be fully discounted. One of such procedures is tummy tucking or abdominoplasty.

A lot of people find themselves asking What is a tummy tuck? This procedure is actually quite simple, but for the most part, this is particularly beneficial for women who have had more than one child. This is because this surgical procedure is beneficial to women who want to get rid of the loose skin in their abdominal area, since this usually happens after the first pregnancy. Moreover, females and males who want to get rid of the excess fat on their abdomen can opt to have a partial abdominoplasty or what is known as a mini tummy tuck.

In general, however, the vast majority of tummy tuck procedures are done for the enhancement of a persons appearance. However, there are also situations where this procedure is needed for certain medical purposes, such as eliminating spinal problems that may be caused by weak stomach muscles. In these cases, the medical community deems this procedure to be a necessity in order to treat the medical condition. Because of this, most insurance companies include these procedures in their coverages.  For elective cosmetic surgery you will have to research the cost of cosmetic surgery yourself.

If you think that you absolutely need to undergo abdominoplasty soon, you have to first consider other basic weight loss programs, such as physical exercises or basic workout routines. However, if you are seriously bent in undergoing an operation of this nature soon, it is imperative that you prepare yourself for the entire ordeal. You also need to inform your surgeon if you have lung or heart ailments, diabetes or a blood-clotting disorder before you go under the knife.

There are numerous benefits to having this procedure but you have to make sure that before you undergo this operation, you have the appropriate abdominoplasty surgery info that can guide you in your decision to either push through with this procedure or not.

Breast Implants Grow Up

without comments

If the American Society of Plastic Surgeons is correct, breast augmentation is the most frequently performed cosmetic surgery in the country. The reasons for the procedure are many, but tend to cluster around the concept of body dissatisfaction. Larger breasts are perceived by society as more desirable than smaller ones. Many women who are not well-endowed are self-conscious about this presumed fault. Information regarding breast augmentation indicates that the procedure is performed for several reasons.

Reconstruction can be required in cases where all or part of the breast has been removed for medical purposes,  for example breast reconstruction after mastectomy; it may be chosen as augmentation to enhance the size or appearance of an otherwise healthy breast; and can be needed to correct or repair aging or damaged breast implants.

This brings up an important point about breast augmentation. Implants rarely last for the life of the patient, and generally require replacement after a period of years. The failure rate depends on the type of implants used. For saline implants, a rate of seven to ten percent failure by the time a decade has elapsed is anticipated. In the case of silicone gel implants, studies indicate a rate of eight to fifteen percent over the same time frame.

While earlier silicone designs suffered from a series of recalls due to implant rupture, a new generation of these devices has largely taken the place of the saline models that were formerly the only option to U.S. patients. Due to the significant cosmetic factor involved in breast augmentation surgery, new and improved silicone implants, formulas have proven to be more realistic in appearance than the saline units are, as well as clinically proven to be safe and effective from a medical standpoint.

Breast augmentation surgery is a relatively minor procedure that takes approximately one to two hours to perform, followed by a period of recovery that involves limitations on normal activities for about a week in most cases. A degree of discomfort will continue for several weeks longer in some cases and the scars of an implantation procedure will begin to fade in about a month and a half.

Many studies show that breast augmentation before and after are as much a matter of emotional well-being as it is of physical appearance. A mutually reinforcing cycle makes a woman look better and feel better at the same time.  This is one of the many factor to be considered when calculating the cost of cosmetic surgery.

Surgery for Correcting a Deviated Septum

without comments

Deviated septum surgery is the procedure needed in order to correct a defect in the wall that separates the nasal cavities. This wall is called the septum, and there are several possible reasons why it could end up defective. It could be the result of a birth defect, or something that was acquired while the child is still in the womb of the mother. The second and most common cause of a deviated septum are injuries or accidents that involve the head or the face. A broken nose usually means a deviated septum. Whatever the cause, a deviated septum can cause serious discomfort to a person. It can cause sleeping disorders involving snoring, or in some very serious cases it can cause difficulty in breathing. If there is difficulty in breathing because of some serious defect in the nasal cavity the usual recommendation would be for the patient to undergo a deviated septum surgery or septoplasty.

This procedure is relatively simple and free from risks. Most hospitals perform this operation in their outpatient surgery department which should give you an idea of how uncomplicated it is. So a patient should be on his way again to a better life right after the operation. Because of the relative simplicity of the procedure needed in order to correct it, no one should suffer from a deviated septum. Children who were born with this kind of defect should undergo the operation right away so that they would never have to suffer.

So if you think that you have a deviated septum, go to your doctor right away so it can be ascertained if you have defect or not.  There is more information available on septoplasty and other rhinoplasty procedures including how much does a rhinoplasty cost available right here on this site.

I have been writing health related online articles for four years now and I have written articles on the best back stretcher to the different types of allergy. I always try to make my articles to be as informative and helpful to the readers who may have to depend on them for reliable information.

Recognizing The Symptoms Of A Deviated Septum

without comments

Being able to recognize deviated septum symptoms can be instrumental in finding relief from the discomfort that accompanies the affliction.  The symptoms can be mild to severe, depending on the amount of deviation, and they will vary from person to person.  Some cases are so mild that the affected person either does not experience symptoms at all, or only notices symptoms when accompanied by an upper respiratory infection of some kind.  The more severe indications, however, are easily noticeable and can be quite uncomfortable to the sufferer.

When suffering from a deviated septum, one can experience persistent nasal congestion.  It seems as though it is impossible to ever breathe freely through a nose that is constantly plugged.  There is usually an obstruction of one or both nostrils, which can be further exacerbated by an infection causing the nasal passages to swell.  This can also lead to mucus being allowed to run to the back of the throat and, in some cases, is accompanied by a sore throat.

Frequent sinus infections can also be a sign of a deviated septum.  There is no guarantee that something else cannot be the cause, but recurring infections are a telltale sign that a misalignment of the septum is a possible cause.  Another symptom is inexplicable nosebleeds, especially with no trauma to the nose.

A symptom that is especially noticeable in young children, or even infants, is noisy breathing while asleep.  This, again, is no guarantee of diagnosis, but a good piece of information to discuss with a pediatrician if it raises a concern.  A deviated septum can occur even when there has never been trauma, making everyone susceptible to the infirmity.

These symptoms are all good indicators for suspecting a deviated septum.  Only a healthcare professional can truly diagnose and provide treatment options for the sufferer, though.  Not breathing properly can be a nuisance and detrimental to overall health, and it would behoove a sufferer of any of these symptoms to talk with their doctor to determine what can be done to alleviate the symptoms.

In the event that the symptoms are caused by a deviated septum then there are surgical solutions to the problem.  A septoplasty or deviated septum surgery is a relatively simple procedure which can alleviate the symptoms and, in the event that the  nose is visibly displaced, greatly improve the cosmetic appearance of the nose.  As with all nose jobs and rhinoplasty cost is an issue but currently a septoplasty will cost in the region of  $4,000 – $8,000 depending on the degree of surgery required and the clinic providing it.

Correction for a Displaced Septum

without comments

Everyone wants to have a perfect nose but it may not seem so perfect at all when there is a slight deviation to it. The nose serves a very important purpose on the function of the body and getting a perfectly functioning nose can be a way to prevent nasal problems. But when there is a deviation on the nasal septum, breathing will become a problem and may have serious health consequences.

Deviation of the nasal septum is a common flaw in the nasal area. The nasal septum which divides the nostrils into two parts will be displaced to a different direction rather than being on its normal central position.  What are the causes of deviated septum? They may be congenital or caused by physical trauma such as a sports injury from football or boxing.  To make a correction to a displaced nasal septum, the deviated septum surgery is a common procedure.

© Dimitri Mikitenko @ www.photoexpress.com

Anatomically, the nasal septum is located at the center of the nose.  When it is displaced the septum that is normally made from a soft bone and cartilage is offset and positioned on the right side or on the left side. You may not get the whole picture, but this can really cause blockage to the entry of air into the nose. The symptoms that come along with this condition can include: poor sinus drainage, problems with breathing, continuous nose bleeding, facial pain, snoring and sleep apnea.

To find a way to restore normal breathing and to prevent the dangers of sleep apnea, a septoplasty or deviated septum surgery is used to make the necessary corrections on the displaced septum. This surgery is an easy one and will not take a lot of time to do. Once the surgery is over, the patient can get back to normal activities after a few days.

The deviated septum surgery is a minor procedure that is executed through the nose. The doctor will remove the obstructing part to make breathing easier on the part of the patient. It usually takes less than a week for the healing process to take place. A splint will be used to guard the operated on area to ensure the septum will be maintained at its correct alignment. This will be kept on for a few days to protect the newly operated septum from unnecessary displacement. Saline irrigation is also part of the recovery and the patient must get through the total process of healing to speed up the recovery and get back to the fast paced living of life.

Septoplasty is one of the commonest forms of rhinoplasty and is a particularly common form of cosmetic surgery for men.  As surgery it not just cosmetic as while it improves the appearance of the patient it can have clear health benefits too depending on the nature and extent of the deviated septum.  As with all rhinoplasty cost is a factor.  However, due to the prominence of the nose many people regard a significant improvement in physical appearance as worth significant outlay.  The surgery itself is relatively simple and apart from the normal side-effects you would expect with any surgery healing should be straightforward if carried out by a competent medical professional.
